Get off at the first stop

How far are you going to ride the wrong bus before you get off?

Here’s what I’ve learned. If you get on the wrong bus, get off at the first stop. Don’t ride it all the way to the end of the route and then decide. The return ride is much more expensive. It takes much longer to get back to where you started.

That goes for people, places, and things. When you’ve got the wrong ones in your life, get them out as quickly as you possibly can.

And I say as you possibly can on purpose. Not every situation lets you step off today. Sometimes the next stop isn’t for another two or three miles and you want off right now. You can be in an environment you know isn’t healthy for you and not have the option to walk out the door this minute.

That takes a plan. It takes a strategy. But the sooner you can do it, the better.

So, one more time. How far are you going to ride?
